Faramir

Faramir is definitely my favorite minor character. Although he was treated so poorly by his father, Denethor, he did not react in spite like he could have. No matter how many times his father told him that he was not good enough, he kept trying to please his father. He went into a battle that was sure to end in death, in hope that maybe, just maybe, his father would think better of him. I also love the friendship that forms between himself and Pippin. Pippin is able to see Faramir's unique strength when no one else is able to. I also love Eowyn and Faramir's relationship. I think they are the cutest couple and they are perfect for each other. besides all of his unique qualities, I've kind of always had a small crush on him (hehe XD). So, that's why Faramir is my favorite minor character.

There is no "True Hero"

There are so many people out there who will claim that either Frodo or Sam is the "true hero", as if it has to be one or the other. I believe that they are both the Heroes. Neither of them would have gotten any farther than Bree if they didn't have the other. Both Frodo and Sam have their flaws, though Frodo may have more. Frodo had to deal with the weight of the ring through the whole journey, so you can imagine how hard it  would be for him not to fall to the power of the ring. Sam did not have to deal with the weight of the ring so he didn't make as many mistakes as Frodo did, but I believe that if they had switched places and Sam had the ring, he would have ended up acting like Frodo. Now, I'm not saying its wrong to have a favorite, because, honestly, I like Sam more than I like Frodo.  :P  I just think that they're both heroes in their own way. Frodo in that he endured the weight of the ring through the whole journey, and Sam in that he was a true friend to Frodo when he needed it most.

My Opinion on Tauriel

I know that there is a wide range of opinions on Tauriel, due to the fact that she was created by Peter Jackson and she was not in the books. Personally, I love Tauriel. Tolkien is definitely an amazing writer and his books are my favorite things of all time, but his writing lacks one thing: strong female characters. I think that Tauriel is an amazing strong female character. I know there are a lot of people out there who can't stand when movies are different from the books. I'm not really that way. the only time that a book-to-movie difference annoys me is when they take stuff away. Tauriel and the love triangle were added. That is the main reason why it doesn't bother me. I know that there was a lot of disappointment that Kili died defending Tauriel instead of Thorin. Here us my theory: all Tolkien said about Fili and Kili's deaths was "Fili and Kili had fallen defending him with shield and body, for he was their mothers elder brother.". Tolkien never specified if Fili and Kili were defending Thorins physical body. I think he could have meant that they were defending Thorin's kingship and right to rule. So, while physically Kili was defending Tauriel, he also was defending Thorin's right to rule. In conclusion, I think Tauriel is an amazing character. I'd like to hear your opinions too, if youd like to comment them! :)

Introduction

Hey! I'm Chloe and I'm a Tolkien fangirl! My love for Tolkien started when I first watched the Lord of the Rings movies in 2011, but it didn't become an obsession until about 6 moths ago. Now its practically my life. When Battle of the Five Armies came out in December last year, I convinced my mom to take me to see it. She hadn't seen the first two movies, but after she saw it she decided to watch them. I was able to convince her to watch all of the Lord of the Rings movies too, and she seemed to enjoy them. The rest of my family has never cared for anything Tolkien though. I really hope you guys enjoy reading my blog as much as I am going to have writing it!
